Center for Creative Photography in WSJ

Here is a nice article in the Wall Street Journal on our friends at the Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona.  I was there in January in preparation for my recent Japan/Pacific trip.  I long ago lost count on the number of visits I’ve made to CCP.  It’s more than 20 trips over 14+ years, maybe up to 25.  I can loudly attest to the value of their archives.  In many ways my whole, so-called career has been based on CCP’s materials.

One of the miracles of my work is that I’ve been able to make so many visits to Tucson, especially in the early days before funding (BF) and today when funding for my Smith biography is more scarce (after funding – AF), in part because my wife once lived in Tucson and two of her closest friends are still there.  So I’ve been able to stay with them each time.

JLP’s Hometown Paper Covers Event at Public Library

HERE is a very nice piece in yesterday’s Durham Herald-Sun about the JLP event that I participated in at the Durham Public Library on Sunday.  The event was set up by the Nasher Museum’s education director Juline Chevalier.  It was part of a regular series they do with the public library.  I was impressed with the turnout and quality of engagement by the audience.  And Cliff Bellamy’s article ended up on the front page of the printed paper.

John G. Morris Photo Diary

John was, of course, a longtime friend and supporter of W. Eugene Smith.  He’s 90+ now and doing as well as ever.  This new project promises to be significant.
